Vocational Visit

Members of the Rotaract Club of Likas Bay attended their sponsoring club, Rotary Club of Likas Bay's 1st vocational project in this rotary year, a visit to witness the 3rd generation noodle making machine invented by Mr. Anthony Chong (1998 Sindex Winner) on 23rd October 2008 (Thursday) near Donggongon town.

Mr Anthony Chong demonstrated each functions of 3rd generation noodles making machine.

The machine motor and gear is driven by an electronic variable speed controller.

We went to a nearby coffee shop and requested them to cook the noodles that was freshly made. It was awesome, very chewy too.

Blood Drive ~ Give a Little, Save a Life

Our blood donation drive dated 12 October 2008 at City Mall Shopping Complex from 11am - 5pm. It was a joint project together with Hospital Likas Blood Bank. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Encik Haji Hashim (Head of Hospital Likas Blood Bank Department) & his team for their hard work. We managed to collect 50 pints throughout the day.

In addition, we would like to take this opportunity to thanks our sponsors. Our sincere appreciation to Vico whereby they have set a dispensary booth for the donors. Our sincere thanks also go to Tong Guan Food Products Sdn Bhd, Rinajadi Sdn Bhd, Guiness Anchor Marketing Sdn Bhd & last but not least, The Management of City Mall.

Motivational Talk : The Secret

During our 7th Regular Meeting on 7th October 2008, Professional Development Director, Rtr. Nicholas Lo has presented a motivational video presentation entitled The Secret.

Installation of Rotaract Club of Kota Kinabalu

Rotaractors and Rotarians of Likas Bay attended the Rotaract Club of Kota Kinabalu Installation dinner which was held at Atlantis Restaurant on 4th October 2008.

Membership Gathering

We had our dinner gathering on 1st October 2008 at The Hut Restaurant, City Mall Shopping Complex, in conjunction with the 17th Installation Post-Mortem meeting. Congratulation to OC Chelwin and her organising team for making our Installation a BIG success!!

Baby Isaac Zoel Wong celebrated his full moon (it's a direct translation of mandarin words) on the 28th September 2008. It is a Chinese cultural practice, to celebrate the baby’s first month.

Rotaractors and Rotarians of Likas Bay joined Rtn Aldrin Wong, Ann Soon Mun and Zoeys' celebrating the big day of handsome little I. Z. (a name given by sister Zoey..haha..).

New Members Induction

We wish to welcome our newly inducted member namely Suzanna, Diana and Norman to the fold of rotary family - Rotaract Club of Likas Bay. The induction ceremony was held after our 6th Regular Meeting on 23 September 2008, witnessed by our NSG Rtn. Wong.

Baking Class

The Rotaract Club of Likas Bay members had lots of fun learning how to bake cookies. It is definitely in the spirit of the Raya that everyone turned up at Pelangi Bakery owned by Ann Theresa (spouse of Rotarian Chang Er Ling) on 20th September 2008 afternoon with excitement.

We have learned how to make chocolate rice cookies and corn flakes cookies. We managed to bake approximately 90 containers of cookies and they have been distributed these cookies to the Interact Club of Maktab National, Kian Kok High School and Bandaraya Secondary School for sale. The proceeds of sale will be used for Interactors' community service projects. Rotaractors are not only baking the cookies for interactors, but also assisting them to sell some cookies for their fund raising projects.

Ranau Recce Trip - 31 August 2008

The members of Rotaract Club of Likas Bay spent their National Day holiday exploring few places in the area of Ranau for their up-coming project.

With 7 Guests: President Chua Soon Lan, NGD Wong Chu Lai, PP Yvonne Tan, PP Yvonne’s Guest - Mr Liew, PP Julianna, Rtr Nicholas’s Guest - Abby & President Esther’s Guest - Norman.

Activity held:

8am : Meet up at Tamparuli to have breakfast.

9 – 11:30am : Head to Don Bosco Children Home at Bundu Tuhan and had a brief discussion with Brother Ben. We have also donated 20 packets of noodles, 10 packets of biscuits & 60 packets of individually packed cereals for the home.

12pm : Lunch at Ranau

1-2pm : Donated wheelchair to a 13 years old disability boy at Kampong Bongkud.

2:30-3:30pm : Visited Sabah Tea Plantation. Attended a brief presentation about Sabah Tea & visited long house to prepare ourselves during our Professional Development trip in December 2008.

3:30-5:30pm : Head back to KK.

GSE Presentation

Rtr. IPDRR Lina Chin shared her experience as the 2007/2008 GSE participant to Ohio, USA, at the RC Likas Bay Weekly Meeting on 27th August 2008.

Rotary Club of Likas Bay's Anniversary Dinner

The Rotaractors of Likas Bay attended their sponsoring club, Rotary Club of Likas Bay's 25th Anniversary Dinner which was held on 24th August 2008 at Pacific Sutera Hotel. The event was graced by the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, YB Datuk Masidi Manjun. Members have presented 2 songs namely, Sayang Kinabalu and We Are The World, and also performed a dance.

Birthday Celebration

The Rotaract Club of Likas Bay organised a choir practice cum July, August & September's birthday babies celebration on 17th August 2008 at D'Junction Karaoke. The activity was attended by Rotarians of RC Likas Bay, Rotaractors and Kian Kok Interactors. A special thanks to President Chua Soon Lan for hosting this celebration!!

Interact Clubs Installation

The Interact Club's Installation held at Sabah Golf & Country Club on 16th August was attended by Rtn. Aldrin Wong, NGD Wong Chu Lai, President Chua Soon Lan, Rtr. Leong Wah Kon, President Esther Chong & PP Jason Ho.

Rtr. Leong Wah Kon was given opportunity to briefly explain what is Rotaract Club and what activities or projects that we can help our society.

The Rotaractors assist in facilitating Interactors's discussion and give guidance in the projects that they can carry out during their new term.

Rotary Club of Kinabalu Sutera Installation

President Esther attended Rotary Club of Kinabalu Sutera's Installation held at Magellan Hotel on 9th August 2008.
