Hosting RACKL of District 3300

The Rotaract Club of Kuala Lumpur visited Kota Kinabalu recently for their fund raising program, The Kinabalu Project. Our fellow Rotaractors of District 3300 visit was short but we believe, it was eventful. Although we were not their host Club, but we manage to host them for a fellowship dinner and a short night out, the day before they left Kota Kinabalu. I do hope that we have done our best to make them comfortable and happy during their short outing to KK city that evening!

Around 8.30pm, President Neeraj of RACKL reached KK with 3 others friendly smiling friends from KL and Rotarian Yanzi of RC Bukit Bintang. They had been here for 4 days already, in which President Neeraj had led the team and conquered the famous Mount Kinabalu. Attending from our club were DRR Lina Chin, Rtr Nicholas Lo, Rtr Joysy Hii, PP Juliana Tokuzip and President Veronica Chin. We hope this friendship built will continue for years to come...

The Coffee Experience Tour at Cap Kuda Coffee Factory

There's more to your cup of coffee than you think! The Coffee Experience Tour at the Cap Kuda Coffee Factory which was held on 6th October 2007 gave caffeine aficionados an opportunity to learn more about their favourite beverage, its origin, manufacturing process and history.

The Cap Kuda Coffee Company (or Yap Yu Sendirian Berhad, trading as Hock Lee Coffee Powder Factory) was established in the early 1960s. Today, it is one of the largest coffee manufacturers in Sabah, operating from specialized office-plant on a 1.5-acre site.

At the Coffee School, we were introduced to the various types of beans, followed by a video presentation. The highlight of the visit is none other than the coffee tasting session. We learnt the difference between a cappuccino, espresso and Sabah's very own concoction, the Kopi-O, also known as Borneo's Drink.

At the end of the visit, we were given one of their coffee products as a souvenir. We were informed that the Coffee School also offers specialized courses for coffee enthusiasts, teaching them how to brew coffee for personal or commercial needs.

Congratulation to the newly wed couple...

On 28th September 2007 is the wedding day of our very handsome and cool Immediate Past President, Rtr Jason Ho and our very beautiful and capable Club Service Director, Rtr. Esther Chong. As the wedding clashes with our regular club meeting, we decided to make the wedding our club meeting instead. This couple met in one of our Club fellowship gathering at Cempaka Square, shortly after the "first met", they started to celebrate all sort of festivals together, including Moon Cake Festival, which gave a good excuse to our IPP to date Esther under the moonlight…haha! Both of them are match made in heaven. Though IPP Jason looks very "taukeh", but he speaks very gently. A very laid back man who will snick every opportunity to relax if he could afford to. Well, like a key to a lock, Esther is made perfectly for him. Not laid back at all, has her own very strong principles and will ensure every detail is attended to. Jason and Esther marriage is a promise of love. On behalf of the club, I wish both of you forever happiness and joy.

Spice Island, one of the Resort’s signature restaurants, is host to a refreshingly unique menu of Malay-Indian fusion cuisine. Complemented by the ambiance created with the nostalgic decor of the restaurant and the period garb of the attentive service staff, it’s no wonder that Spice Island is the venue of choice of royalty and dignitaries.
